The Pillars of Power

A CNP Guild Tale
There are many threats to the Kingdom of Enterprise IT.

Dragons.
Necromancers.
Printers.

But none inspire quite as much dread among the people as the ancient and insidious forces known collectively as IT Problems.

For centuries, the kingdoms had relied upon enchanted communication crystals, message scrolls carried across invisible ether currents, and vast data vaults hidden beneath mountain citadels. These magical systems allowed merchants, healers, scholars, and rulers to collaborate across great distances.

But magic — especially poorly maintained magic — has a tendency to go wrong.

And when it does, things become… complicated.

A Disturbance in the Network

It began, as many disasters do, with a message that never arrived.

In the bustling trade city of Mailhaven, merchants noticed their enchanted mail scrolls had stopped appearing in their inbox chests. Messages vanished mid-transmission. Some returned corrupted and unreadable. Others simply disappeared into the ether.

Within hours, panic spread.
Trade halted.
Schedules collapsed.
Executives began pacing nervously.

Whispers soon followed of a terrible creature — a serpent-like beast lurking deep within the infrastructure of the realm — known in dark technical circles as the Ransomwyrm.

Where it slithered, systems locked. Data vanished. Communications failed.

And behind it all loomed an even darker force…

The Shadow of Complexity. A creeping darkness formed from decades of tangled infrastructure, forgotten configurations, and ancient relic systems that absolutely nobody wanted to touch.

The kingdoms needed help.

Which meant it was time to summon the guild.

The Guild of CNP

In the city of Charlotte stood a rather unusual order of technomancers known throughout the realm as The Guild of CNP.

They were not warriors in the traditional sense.
They carried no swords.
No shields.
No flaming axes of destiny.

Instead, they wielded far stranger weapons:

Architecture diagrams.
Security wards.
Cloud portals.
And Configurations of terrifying power.

Among their ranks was an elite adventuring party known as The Fellowship of the Pillars.

Their purpose was simple:

Restore balance to the systems of the realm.

Their methods were… somewhat more complicated.

The Fellowship

First among them was Gresham of the Silver Woods, an elven emissary whose persuasive abilities were legendary.

Tall, sharp-eyed, and possessed of the uncanny ability to translate arcane technical language into something kings and council members could understand, Gresham served as the party’s negotiator and guide.

If a kingdom required assistance, Gresham could almost always convince them to accept it.

Sometimes before they even realized they needed it.

Next came Brad the Runic Architect, master of infrastructure design.

Brad spoke rarely, but when he did, entire systems seemed to align themselves into elegant patterns of logic and stability.

Where others saw chaos, Brad saw architecture.

Where others saw broken systems, Brad saw blueprints waiting to be rebuilt.

Then there was Conner of the Field, a ranger-engineer known for venturing into the most dangerous environments imaginable:

Server rooms.
Closets labeled “temporary equipment.”
And once, legend claimed, a storage rack assembled entirely by a former intern.

Conner carried tools, cables, and an unsettling willingness to crawl beneath desks in pursuit of stability.

The guild’s quartermaster was Nick the Keeper of Numbers, whose mastery of operational logistics ensured that licensing, provisioning, and resources appeared exactly when needed.

No one quite understood how Nick did this.
Some suspected spreadsheets.
Others believed it was magic.

Nick refused to confirm either theory.

And then there was Jason the Dragon.

Not metaphorically.
Jason was, in fact, a dragon.

Fortunately for the guild, he was the helpful sort — an ancient creature fascinated by the construction of communication systems and collaborative technologies.

Where others breathed fire, Jason breathed solutions.

Watching over them all was the enigmatic figure known only as Niall the Dungeon Master.

Some claimed he had seen every system architecture in existence.

Others believed he possessed the ability to foresee technical failures before they occurred.

Either way, when Niall spoke, the guild listened.

Because if Niall said something was about to break…

It usually already had.

The Pillars of Power

The Fellowship travels the realm, relying on the six great disciplines of technological magic to defeat their adversaries, known collectively as the Pillars of Power.

Cloud Platforms & Solutions
The ability to summon scalable infrastructure from the sky itself.

Data Center Infrastructure
Great fortress vaults of servers, storage, and processing power.

Firewall & Security Wards
Protective enchantments guarding against digital intruders.

Networking & Wireless Pathways
Invisible highways connecting every kingdom.

End User Endpoints
The tools and devices used by the citizens of the realm.

Contact Center & Communication Magic
The spells that allowed voices to travel across continents.

Mastering even one pillar required great expertise.

Mastering all six requires the Guild of CNP Technologies.

The Battle Ahead

The Guild of CNP grows their ranks, armed with the technological magic of the Pillars of Power, they stand ready to face the dreaded Ransomwyrm, lurking within the systems of the realm and the darker Shadow of Complexity spreading where neglected and unmanaged infrastructure grows unnoticed.

The Guild gave the kingdoms hope.

Because whenever systems failed…

Whenever communication collapsed…

Whenever technology became more curse than tool…

The Fellowship will answer the call.

And Thus the Campaign Begins...

The Fellowship of the Pillars is merely an adventuring party.

Is something rarer.

A team capable of transforming chaos into stability.

Complexity into clarity.

And infrastructure into strategic advantage.

Which, as any seasoned Dungeon Master will tell you…

Is the most powerful magic of all.
